Group Conscience minutes for May 14, 2024

Opened meeting with Serenity Prayer

Regular Reports


Last meeting’s minutes; accept and/or accept with modifications? (Tom J.) Kathy moved to accept them, Jason seconded, all voted ‘aye’
Treasurer’s report (Jason H.); Jason summarized the income, expenses, donations to local organization, available cash, and prudent reserve since last month Literature and Chips report (Theresa W.); Theresa said that there was a shortage of 4 year and 8 year chips, so she ordered more. She listed some books (e.g., Living Sober) that were available and asked if they were approved by AA. Kathy had looked over the list of books and
said they were approved. There are some other books not approved by AA which could be donated to womens’ sober living, etc. Tom J. moved to donate these books, Kathy seconded, all voted ‘aye’

Webmaster’s report (Lauren H.); Lauren said that she now had access to the site, but has to get familiar with the setup again. The group agreed that all AA meetings at 511 (e.g., breakfast club) should be listed there, as they are on the latest door posting and the pamphlets.

GSR Report (Monica F.); District had its Spring Picnic, panel event, and meeting on April 28 in Tiffin. Erin, the Alternate GSR, attended to see what a district meeting involves. Monica gavethe Melrose GSR report.

Managing keys to 511 (Erin S.); Erin was not present, so nothing new was available

Old business

White Boards (Tom J.): two new marker boards have arrived. Michael (graphic artist) has volunteered to apply ruling and lettering to boards.

Randy, Tom J. and at least one other person will arrange to
hang the boards when Michael’s work is complete.

Melrose meeting date/times should be posted on website (make sure they align with 511 signage and Area 13 pamphlets)

Old safety cards have been taken down; new one has been placed at the chairperson’s table.

New Business

Kathy would like to donate a big screen TV to 511 Melrose. Randy will get a cart to move it around. The general idea would be to reinstate movie nights. Does anyone have an extra DVD player to donate?
Other activities: Softball? Bart has organized this in the past.
Other activities: Volleyball is beginning now every Sunday at 1:30 PM in Lower City Park. Greg C. has organized this.
Other activities: How about another craft/art day? The last one was very successful.
Other activities: How about a swim/pool day?
Should we replace the blinds? They are getting unreliable. Kathy will discuss with Melrose, Inc.
Painting the rooms? Someone talked directly with Melrose, Inc. but it must go through GC, then be approved by Melrose, Inc. Lauren H. expressed interest in helping. Michael has also said he will volunteer.
Many of the chairs are in pretty bad shape. Does anyone have favorite sources for extra furniture? For example, University surplus, auction houses, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Stuff?
Any feelings on spending limits? General consensus was that costs on individual projects be approved with some initial cost estimates.
Intergroup picnic is Saturday, May 18 th 11 AM to 3 PM at Willow Creek Park, 1117 Teg Road; food at 11:30, meeting at 12:30.
Tom J. made the motion to adjourn; seconded by Angela, all voted “aye”.
